What and Where?

Figment is a "celebration of art and creative culture held 10 minutes from New York City on Governors Island... a former military base undergoing a rejuvenation as a ecologically sustainable public space for the people of New York City. It boasts breathtaking city views, endless green meadows and historic buildings and monuments...

Figment presents a clean slate for you to realize your vision! Through collaborative and interactive art, volunteering and fun, Figment seeks to build a community based on creativity and participation...

Who?

Figment is produced by Action Arts League, a downtown NYC based not-for-profit arts association in collaboration with pureproject and a coalition of NYC artists and community groups."

Disorient is honored to have members and collaborators involved in such an opportunity for public art in a New York City and State Park. Disorient has been invited to present a microcausem of its Burning Man Theme Camp with lounges, live DJs, inflatable and other unique shade-creating art installations, Belly Dancing, Hooping, Yoga, classes, and more.

What?

Astral Carpet Lounge (ACL)(2008) will be the entry port and 1st hole for City of Dreams; a 9-hole miniature golf course by different NYC art collectives. City of Dreams is the recipient of a Black Rock Arts Foundation (BRAF) Grant. Developmental sketches for ACL were also submitted early to illustrate some example designs for City of Dreams as its organizers were seeking GIPEC approval and funding; which was provided.

Thick Plane (2008) is an indoor, Ultraviolet Pornj Diamond Cloud(PDC) for Emergence.

When and How?

"Governors Island will be open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 31st through October 5th. Enjoy bike riding, picnicking, concerts, art festivals, and more. The entire 92 acre National Historic District will be open to the public. The Island is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Fridays, and from 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The ferry ride and admission to the Island are FREE!
