What’s the deal with this party, anyway?
In August, about 100 New Yorkers will journey to Black Rock City, Nevada to participate in the Burning Man festival as part of Disorient, the largest New York-based“theme camp” at the festival. This party is our biggest fundraiser of the year.

When is the party?
The party starts at 9pm on June 17th, 2005 with a free vegan feast, and runs until 5am the next morning.

Where is it?
Our venue is a warehouse space called The Building, at 156 Tillary Street in Brooklyn Heights, just over the Manhattan Bridge from Manhattan.

What’s the venue like?
It’s a 10,000 square foot space, spread out over two floors, with very nice management. By the time you get there it will have been transformed with video, bubbles, sound, and lights into something that looks and feels just a LITTLE bit like Burning Man.

How do I get there by subway?
Take the B, Q, M or R train to DeKalb avenue. Walk four blocks down Flatbush Avenue back towards the bridge to Tillary. Turn right on Tillary Street. The Building is the second building on the right side.

How do I get there by car?
The easiest way is to drive into Manhattan, and then over the Manhattan Bridge. You will be on Flatbush Avenue, and you will cross Tillary, but you can’t turn there – go a few blocks farther and turn around. There is a Kinney parking lot on Gold Street where it meets Flatbush, or you can park in the parking lot of the McDonald’s opposite The Building.

How much does the event cost?
Admission to the event will be $25. Advance tickets are $20 and are available at brownpapertickets.com.

Can I be on a guestlist?
No. There aren’t any. This is a fundraiser. However, if $20 is too much for you to pay, you may be able to get a further discount by volunteering to work at the event. Email compressor2005@hotmail.com if interested.

Who’s spinning? What kind of music?
There will be two sound systems at the party. Upstairs, DJ Halo (City Deep Music, Large Recordings, San Diego) and Neil Aline (Chez Music, New York) will spin deep, sexy house, with Disorient’s Orion and Big Jimmy Fingers opening up. Downstairs, Sunder and Haj from Freek Factory will spin breaks, along with DJ Shakey and some special guests.

What else is happening?
At 9pm there will be a free vegan feast for all attendees. Kostume Kult will be styling party-goers with costume and makeup all night, with Freek Factory providing bodypainting, dance performances, and video installations. Anakin Koenig Airways is building big glowing bubbles that you can go inside. A number of different artists will be doing video installations. And of course there will be lots of strange and wonderful surprises all through the night.

What is Burning Man, anyway?
Our advice? Come to the party, and you’ll start to get an idea.

What else should I know?
Nothing ! Buy a ticket, show up. You'll have a terrific time.
