At D26, Disorient is organizing camp into eight Folds.

A fold is not a border or a wall. It is a way of gathering. A way of creating smaller zones of care, responsibility, participation, and connection within the larger organism of camp.

Each Fold contains a portion of our shared city. Every camper belongs to a Fold. During build, event week, and strike, Folds help us coordinate communication, support one another, and distribute the work that keeps Disorient alive.

The word “fold” carries many meanings:
a sheepfold is a communal enclosure;
to be “within the fold” is to belong;
a fold in space creates distinction without separation.

That spirit feels right for Disorient.

The Folds are not isolated from one another. They are connected parts of the same living structure — different regions of one continuous surface.

Each Fold will have a Fold Keeper helping coordinate logistics, communication, and cleanup efforts throughout the week.

Placing Campers within Folds

Folds are assigned in advance. We'll ask everyone who they want to be near and place them into folds accordingly. You'll know your fold before you arrive.

A placement cell will be staffed to receive arrivals. Shifts will cover day and night. The cell will have the full list of folds and training for activities like guiding RVs back into place and keeping camp tight.

Fold leaders will help their people get placed and liaise with the placement cell as needed, but aren't required to be awake or on-site when their people arrive.

You have flexibility in where you set up within your fold, as long as you don't exceed your 10×10 space.

Folds can request lounges—empty areas within the fold for people to gather. These are allocated per fold depending on final camp count.
