CROWN/CUSTOM
Touring rig originally designed by Clair Brothers Systems
Racks
- 3 Racks - 20U, 16" deep. 20½" internal rack width, including ventilation clearance. 3½" casters. 22½" W x 44½" H x 27" D - ~15.65 cu. ft. each
- XTA Electronics DP-226 Loudspeaker Management (crossover) (available now: 2/2)
- XTA Electronics DP-324 Dynamic Processor (available now: 1/1)
- Crown Macro Tech 1200 (amps) (available now: 20/20)
"Frogs"
4-way speakers (available now: 8/8) (45"h x 30"w x 18.5"d ~= 14.5 cu. ft.)
- Low - JBL 2240H (30 Hz - 2 kHz)
- 2x Low-Mid (in parallel) - JBL E120-8 (50 Hz - 6 kHz)
- Hi-Mid horn JBL 2385 / 2385A (500 Hz - 16 kHz)
- 2x Tweeter (in series) - ?
The enclosure has two Speakon NL8 8-pole panel connectors for daisy-chaining them. Each pair drives each of the components. Pair #1 is connected the low driver, 2 - Low-Mid (in parallel) , 3 - Hi-Mid, and 4 to the tweeter pair (in parallel)
Two Frogs have dead 18" woofers - replaced
One 12" Lo-Mid's diaphragm is cracked - replaced.
Subs
(available now: 8/16) (35.5"h x 25.5"w x 24"d ~= 12.6 cu.ft)
The cabinet has two Speakon NL8 8-pole panel connectors for daisy-chaining them. The subs are organized in four groups on the speaker signal NL8 bus; the subs in each group are connected to only one of the 4 pairs. Four amps can power the four groups of subs by using one NL8 Speakon cable daisy-chain - each amp will be connected to one of the pairs.
Cables
Patch cables
- 2 x 5 XLRf-XLRm from XTA crossovers to amp channels (5-way on each side)
- 2 x 7 TRS-XLRm to daisy-chain amps (4 for a second set of Frog amps, and 3 for a total of 4 sub amps on each side)
NL8 Speakon cables
These whirlwind cables are 0.590" thick and carry 8 13GA conductors. look for model W13/8 here, or MULTILINE SPEAKER CABLES here.
- To Frogs - each component (Low, LoMid, HiMid, High) is wired to a different NL8 pair.
- 4 NL8 cables terminating with 4 dual-banana pairs on the amp side.
- 4 NL8 Speakon-Speakon patch cables to daisy-chain 2 frogs per amp-set.
- Subs - each sub is wired on one pair. 4 NL8 pairs will carry signal from 4 amps, and each group of subs will be wired to one of the pairs.
- 2 NL8 cables terminating with 4 dual-banana pairs on the amp side.
- 14 NL8 Speakon-Speakon patch cables to daisy chain 2 subs per amp-set. (we'll need only 6 of these if we don't get the extra 8 subs)
- Current Whirlwind NL 8 Cable wiring codes:
