The term patina usually qualifies bronze pieces, wooden furniture, oil paintings, etc. but time does not only alter copper and oil paint, it alters electronics and LEDs too. To some those alterations may look like mistakes or proofs of broken systems but at Disorient, we call that "LED patina (TM-jk)." We accept those signs of time as contemporary manifestations of wabi-sabi. We embrace the beauty of decay.
LED patina is a result of Disorient's collaboration with time. We contend that broken LED circuits add to the pieces as proof or wear and tear, a life well lived. It is fleeting and precious.
Let Go and live happy ever after.
