Before 8: the official afterparty (and french toast breakfast) of new year's eve, Disorient recommends the following:

Actuate2008-flyer.jpg

From our friends at 28thday and Freek Factory, Actuate takes place at Grand Space--site of the legendary Bass Nymphos Ball, the debut collaboration between Disorient and Freek Factory. Besides the Freeks, creative input from Disorientals includes belly dancing by Sera (11PM) and visuals by Spot. DJ Manny from Austin hits the Big Apple to follow up his foot-shaking BM2006 set on the Disorient Express. After Actuate, he'll grace the decks at 8 for an encore (~9AM).

Reduced admission to 8 is available to attendees of Actuate, where password-stamped flyers will be available. You can bring one to the door at 8 for $20 admission (standard price is $40). Or, you can purchase a combination presale ticket from 28thday for $80, which includes admission to both events (standard price at the door is $115-$125). To get this ticket, select the "ACTU-8 Combo Ticket" option on the presale form. If you've already purchased an Actuate presale, you will have the option of upgrading for $15.

Note: The B61 bus runs from Greenpoint to Red Hook through Dumbo and Downtown Brooklyn. The B57 bus will take you to and from Bushwick, fast.

You can help us continue to have a Rubulad in this space by being quiet coming and going, staying inside the space during the event and not pissing all over the sidewalk as soon as you get around the corner – which, incidentally, does attract the police and they will write you a summons.

The less our neighbors have to complain about, the more fun we can have.

Please don't respond to this email. For contact use chris at spill dot net, thanks.

Happy holidays from your Rubulad.

Disorient is an art collective. We create art projects and art installations with hardware including wood, scaffolding, containers, LEDs, geodesic domes, inflatable structures, video, repurposed objects and vehicles. We develop software for our installations (DMX sequencing, MAX, Java, C, etc.).

Disorient is a camp at Burning Man. In 2007 Disorient adds a new member to its fleet. The Rex is a 60 ft. articulated, blinking monster complete with Dj booth, Pornj lounge and new sound system. Some call it the D-Rex. The Disorient Express (Dex + Rex) has been running on biodiesel since 2006 and is now, for the first time, long enough to carry the entire Disorient Sign on deep Playa adventures. Get ready for new levels of GlamTech disorientation! On the Playa, public and private areas of Disorient are separate. The Disorient Express will be mobile and public while the camp as described in the Urban Plan will be more private and soothing.

Disorient is also about sound and performance. In addition to our residents we invite DJs to play on our sound system. During the week of Burning Man, usually on Thursday, we set-up a live music stage and invite bands to perform. When we are not on the Playa, we organize parties to raise funds for our camp and for the Burning Man Organization.
