Edited from BRCVR Discord – August 6, 2020 – Ver 0.1

Hardware/Software/Network requirements
* BRCvr is supported by the AltspaceVR platform (see altvr.com)
* The following hardware choices support AltspaceVR and BRCvr.
** VR Head Mounted Display (HMD)
*** Advantages: HMDs engage your peripheral vision and proprioception, giving you a strong feeling of immersion in the virtual world. Hand tracking controllers that come with HMDs can add expressiveness to your conversations in the virtual world.
*** Supported HMDs are listed at https://help.altvr.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003538414-Minimum-System-Specifications
*** If purchasing a new HMD consider a mobile unit like the Oculus Quest. While mobile units are less powerful that a tethered ones like the Vive, mobile units are easier to set up, and give you great mobility.
***Note that delivery time for HMDs can be 2 weeks or longer due to demand during the Covid crisis.
** Windows PC
*** The AltspaceVR App on Windows PC provides a 2D window into the same 3D world you would see with a HMD. And the spatial navigation is similar to a HMD. The experience is great, but it is less immersive than with a HMD.
***Minimum requirements are listed at https://help.altvr.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003538414-Minimum-System-Specifications
**MacOS
*** AltspaceVR is rumored to be developing a MacOS App in time for BRCvr at the end of August.
***If the MacOS App is not available in time, you could consider running Windows in a Bootcamp partition that you setup on your Mac, or you could purchase a virtualization App like Parallels to run Windows virtually.
*AltspaceVR App
** For Oculus Quest or Oculus Go, you can download the AltspaceVR App for free from the Oculus store.
** Other HMDs have other ways to obtain the AltspaceVR App.
** For Windows, you can download the AltspaceVR App for free from the Microsoft Store
* Network
** AltspaceVR should run on almost any Broadband connection
** The speed of connection will affect how fast you can teleport from one space to another in BRCvr.
** On slower connections (less than 10 Mbps) it may take a minute or more to download the assets for the space you are teleporting to. With faster connections, download time is proportionally faster.
** The AltspaceVR App might lose connection to the AltspaceVR Server your broadband connection frequently loses a series of packets,. In this case the App will try to reconnect automatically. If this fails you may need to quit the AltspaceVR App and restart it.
** If you experience frequent reconnects, or if your AltspaceVR session starts to act oddly, the try the command ‘ping -n 100 altvr.com' to test the quality of your broadband connection. It is probably okay to see occasional errors like ‘Request timed out’. But if you see a stretch of these errors, this could explain the frequent reconnects. In this case you should check the quality of your wi-fi connection, and ask your broadband service provider to run a test to your receiving equipment (e.g. Cable Modem).
Oculus Mobile Setup
* If you just purchased a Quest or a Go, follow the step-by-step setup instructions provided by Oculus.
* You may also google ‘Quest setup’ to find videos and other resources to familiarize yourself with the procedure.
* It’s been my experience that the device can hang during setup if you accidentally miss a step. E.g. it could continuously tell you ‘downloading updates’ for 10 minutes or more.
** If you get stuck like this, you may need to do a ‘factory reset’ of your Quest (google ‘factory reset Quest’ to find out how) and start the setup process again.
* Once your HMD is set up, I suggest you try out a few of the tutorials in the Library.

AltspaceVR App setup
# Download the AltspaceVR App, e.g. from Oculus Store or Microsoft Store.
# Launch the AltspaceVR App
===BRCvr Onboarding Guide===

* Network

==Visiting Disorient in Minecraft: A Howto Guide==

===Step 1: Get Minecraft: Java Edition===
BlackRockPrime is a Burning Man Multiverse experience built in Minecraft.

To visit you must purchase and install Minecraft: Java Edition (compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux). Other versions, such as Xbox, Windows 10, Bedrock editions, do not work.

To purchase and install Minecraft, click this link and follow the instructions:
[https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition]

===Step 2: Setup Minecraft for Version 1.16.1===
In order to connect to BlackRockPrime, you must use the correct version of Minecraft, which is currently 1.16.1. (We'll update this guide as changes are made). By default, Minecraft will launch using 1.16.2, which isn't compatible. Here's how to set Minecraft to use the appropriate version.

====When you run Minecraft, it'll startup with the Minecraft Launcher. Follow these steps within the Launcher app:====
# Click the "Installations" tab near the top-left corner.
# Click the "New" button.
# Name this profile "1.16.1"
# Set the version to 1.16.1
# Click "Create"

You can now play version 1.16.1 either by selecting it in the Installations tab, or by selecting it in the Play tab at the bottom.

===Step 3: Adding the Server===
====Once you've launched Minecraft, you need to add the BlackRockPrime server. ====
# Click "Multiplayer"
# Click "Add Server"
# Name your server "BlackRockPrime" or anything else you would prefer.
# Set the server address to: blackrockprime.mcserver.us
# Select "Done"

You can now experience this multiverse by clicking the play button for BlackRock Prime. Disorient is located at 2 and Esplanade.
Born as a personal project by individual campers, Frozen Minty Towels has grown into a camp-wide project involving dozens of campers. Hand towels are soaked in water and mint extract, stacked in an easily usable way, and frozen. Campers then distribute the FMTs to playa participants during the hottest parts of the day. FMTs are often given out within camp as part of the Love Ministry to hard-working builders and DOers (especially during Disengage). FMT became part of camp frontage in 2017, as a playa gift to any passersby who stopped at the Sparkly Water Bar. In 2018, FMTs expanded further, so any DOer could take a batch and gift them playa-wide.

In 2018, FMTs expanded further, so any DOer could take a batch and gift them playa-wide.

===BRCvr Onboarding Guide===

* Network
===BRCvr Onboarding Guide===

* Network

''by [http://www.villareal.net Blinky] and friends''

Blinky started the Disorient T-shirt tradition. Every year it is one of his many gifts to the community. His design that represents the Man on our 2000 T-shirt was then used by Burning Man Organization (with Blinky's approval). Through the years more and more DOers have added their contribution to the D-shirt project.
